What is Discernment?

Discernment is the prayerful process of seeking to understand God’s voice and discovering your vocation in life, whether it’s the priesthood or a life dedicated to service. Through reflection, prayer, and guidance from spiritual mentors, individuals open their hearts to hear God’s voice and uncover His will. This discernment involves listening to God in prayer and responding with faith, as He leads you to a deeper purpose in service to the Church.

Whether you’re called to be a diocesan priest, join a religious order, embrace a consecrated life, or start a holy marriage, discernment helps you clarify and commit to your vocation.
